First i purchased the hmc150, found out it could only record is a few formats. i exchanged it at b and h fore the hpx170. best move i could have done, you can shoot slow motion, 4x3 and the image is a lot better than avchd. the free 16 gig card is awesome and i love how it performs in low light compared to the hvx200. feels great in the hand because of the lack of tape door and it keeps alot of the same menus from the hvx200. great camera for the price

This camera lives up to everything it is said to be. It is a solid camera with great image quality. A good camera for those making the jump to hd. Excellent camera for the money!

Just got mine! Nice upgrades over the HVX-200 which I've used extensively. Wider angle lens, new CCD's and addition of the waveform/ vectorscope. Color rendition is excellent and slo-mo fx's are stunning. Great choice for the Independent Videographer looking for a highly portable, solid state recording HD camera.
